Melaka

We took a trip down to Melaka for Malaysia Independence Day (Merdeka - August 31). Melaka has a rich heritage as it was occupied by the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British among others. In the Dutch square you can see a Christian Church in the background, just above Tammy's head. The Church has been there since the Dutch ruled in the mid-1700's.

The ship is a replica of one of the Portuguese ships used for transport during their rule.

We also got in some golf at a resort just north of town. While I clearly was the best golfer that day, Pearson somehow worked up enough muscle to out drive me on one hole!!! The alligator was in place to guard the water on one of the island holes.
